Would you like to tell us where you were/are particularly active at the hotel?
Habbo I play now a whole 7 years. I created my account in 2011, but I started actively in 2013, where I made my first acquaintances with job centers, events, traders and so on. I was asked in 2014 at that time if I would like to join a fan page, because they were looking for employees. It was the fansite "HabView.net" - I applied at the time and was ultimately accepted. I was then an employee in event management. Then in 2016 I became an administrator on HabView and managed HabView for 2 years with Ne.ko and Invictus,x from the German Habbo Hotel. However, in 2018, I ended my tenure as an administrator.
Since I love building rooms, creating events and set up WIREDs, I decided at that time not to stop and keep going until I finally got my chance as BAW leader ;) |
What is the BAW project and what is the concept behind it?
The Builders at Work project has been around for years. At that time, a team was led by a leader with 5 other helpers who supported the project. The term of the BAW helpers always ended after 4 months, and that of the leader even after 6. Since 2016, the project is called "Builders at Work 2.0" and there is only one Habbo who builds local and global events for Habbo. The BAW project serves perfectly for Habbos who are known for their spaces and events. You have a great opportunity to outdo yourself once again as a BAW leader because the project gives you so much space.
How did you get selected for the Builders at Work project, or how does one become one in the first place, and did that come as a surprise to you?
In my opinion, you can draw quite a bit of attention to yourself by winning several room competitions at the German hotel. You should also show the German hotel that you don't have any problems with WIREDs - build events to prove yourself!
You will be chosen by a staff (in the German hotel it is Clepsidra). Well, I don't know how it was with the other Habbo's, but I'll tell it from my point of view.... I was made aware by her at that time that she was interested in taking me as the new BAW leader. As a result, Clepsidra and I had three conversations before I was finally permanently hired as BAW. At the first meeting, we had a 5-minute conversation about what the BAW project actually was. A week later, she spent half an hour explaining the rules to me, I then received an email which included all the rules of the project. I had to agree to the rules so that I could participate in the project. Then in the third interview I got everything that makes a BAW leader. 7000 Builders Club limit, 4 months BC, 4 months HC, the office badge, sandbox access. It came as a big surprise, yes, because I never expected to become BAW leader of the German Habbo Hotel! : ) |
Have you had any experience with global campaigns, if so how does that work?
Each BAW that joins the project has a requirement that they must complete within their term to pass their 4 month term. They are required to join 2 local events and 1 global event. This means that the BAW leader is required to build at least 2 events for the German Habbo Hotel. Likewise, you will be invited by the Sandbox Staff that runs the campaigns to join a global campaign. The procedure is via email, which you will receive to get all the information about the campaign. In the Sandbox itself, each BAW leader has the possibility to ask questions to other BAW leaders or directly to the Sandbox Staff, which is often online in the Sandbox itself.
I have already participated in several campaigns. Be it self-built, Wired set up or just tested the rooms to see if they contain bugs. Bugs are reported directly by mail to the respective builder, which he should then fix. Participating in a global campaign is pretty fun because you know that your room is available in every other hotel in the world! |
Can you tell us something about the "Sandbox Hotel", possibly what other wireds are there and what functions they have?
The Sandbox Hotel is the meeting place for BAW Leaders, EX Leaders, Staffs and also Developers. You can get so much information in the hotel, because you can find daily contact with developers who work for Habbo. The Sandbox Hotel is also quite handy for building rooms. You have everything you can imagine there. If something is missing, you can also directly contact your local staff, who will give you the furniture that is missing in the sandbox. As far as I know there is even a video on Youtube, which users have made, who had an illegal access to the sandbox. The video is called "Taking a look in sandbox.habbo.com" - you can watch it, haha.
Wireds are all the same as in any other hotel. Besides the normal wireds that every user has access to, there are also the staff wireds. After requesting a Staff you will get a Staffwired, which you can use in your event. However, there is 1 Wired, which is only available in the Sandbox, but hey: I won't tell you more :) |
How did you actually get into building or wireds and what made you keep going?
There is only one answer for this question - HabView.net! I am so grateful to the fansite that took me in back then. The site has enabled me to achieve everything I have in my Habbo career. Likewise, there were Habbos that motivated me more and more to do the best I could. Among them Habbo's like: Forgetful,, Bench,x3, Invictus,x.
I never stopped because I always wanted to build more events. I wanted to start with really big events, which I built after a while. |
Do you have or have you ever had role models that have helped you grow as a Wired professional?
Sure, I think everyone has them. My biggest role model was always sternthomas2 - an absolute Wired legend. Among them also many people from Habview.net - where I always got inspired. Thanks to .:Germany: and surab1996 with whom I could always talk perfectly when it comes to WIRED!
Every Wired beginner should always pick a role model. In my opinion this is the best way to learn, because every Wired game creator is different. |
There are different opinions on whether wireds are difficult or easy, what is your opinion and why do you think there is such a big difference of opinion?
All beginnings are difficult. I never had it easy either and started as a beginner. I remember the time 6 years ago. I had built my first user game with a friend, which he completely shut down because I couldn't do it, haha. I accidentally broke a room because I wanted to stack the wireds. He told me that I should reset the game because I had broken it with my own hand. In the end, I sat in the room for several hours until I had adjusted the wires.
No master has ever fallen from the sky who could set up WIRED perfectly at the beginning. You should always try, that's what makes you a Wired pro. There are numerous youtube wired tutorials that could help one improve. The difference of opinion in my opinion is so big because there are the most different games in Habbo. From simple laby games, to big team games like capture the flag, rush hour and more. Try a little bit more every day - go for it! |
What was your biggest/most complex "Wired build" and what were you able to take away from it for yourself as a Wired expert?
I didn't even think about my first Wired project back then, which was relatively large. I built on it and eventually realized that I could pick up the game again because nothing worked.
After a while I stopped making bigger and bigger games like Trap Wars, Base Wars, Danger Zone, Base Raiders and Capture the Flag. I learned that you should always do single steps before you really set up the whole game at once. Testing during the build phase is the most important thing! You should never finish building the game and then test it when you realize, "Oh, it doesn't work! "Oh, it doesn't work!", haha. Sure. The beginning is always hard, but everything works out after a while even if you have to put in quite a bit of time for a relatively large Wired game. |
In your opinion, is there a great need for Wired technicians, should there be more of them, and do you see potential in some users who could become great Wired professionals in the future?
There are many Habbos who are good at WIREDs, but again, there are Habbos who are barely good at WIREDs. However, in my opinion, there is no lack of Wired technicians in the German Habbo Hotel. Yes, there are always such users. Start small and expand your Wired knowledge until you perfect your attitude.
There is no such thing as "too good" or "too bad" in WIRED - always keep at it to get better. |
Many thanks for the interview!
With pleasure!
